| ______________________________________________________________________________ Founded in 1991, ELS - The ELSA Lawyers Society is the international alumni association of ELSA - The European Law Students' Association. ELSA was founded in 1981 by the five men on the picture above (not holding the globe), who are now honorary members of ELS. ELS offers its currently almost 600 members a natural continuation of ELSA upon graduation, but tailored to "postgraduate" interests, time constraints and budget. The aims of ELS were expressed in the Statutes as follows: RECALLING that the aim of ELS is to bring together lawyers and other members all over Europe who have been part of or who have supported the ELSA network and structure or who wish to do so now and in the future; to enhance the exchange of knowledge and experiences and to create and maintain personal contacts amongst lawyers in Europe; ELS is governed by the Assembly Meeting (AM) which is normally organised once a year, in conjunction with ELSA's Autumn International Council Meeting. Day to day management of the association and implementation of decisions taken by the AM is in the hands of the Executive Committee (the Exec). Membership of ELS is open to all ELSA members that are close to graduation and those that were ELSA members and have already graduated. Outsiders that support ELS and ELSA’s aims are welcome if their application is supported by two members. ______________________________________________________________________________ |

| OUR ALMA MATER The basis for the existence of ELS is the association from which we originated and to which we dedicate our support. |
"ELSA - The European Law Students' Association" currently is, we can proudly say, the world's largest independent law students' association. It comprises a membership close to 30.000 students and recent graduates who are interested in law and have demonstrated commitment to international issues. ELSA operates primarily through its local groups, which are located at more than 200 universities throughout 36 countries in Europe. You can learn more about ELSA through their website, click on the logo up. |
