Below you can find the answers to some of the most frequently asked questions regarding ELS. We hope
they can help you in clearing any doubts you may have. This section will be further developed in the near
future, but feel free to browse it as it is and give us your feedback on other Q&A you would like to see
posted here.

Q: I'm still a student, can I join ELS? I was never in ELSA, can I join ELS?

A: The answers are: "Yes" and "Yes"! Though ELS' official name (The ELSA Lawyers Society) might put
you off, the truth is that membership is open to all people that support the aims of ELS and wish to
support ELSA, regardless of the fact that they are still students, or that they had not a connection to
    ELSA in the past.

ELSA members (former or current) can be accepted as ELS members once they join. As for non-ELSA
members, they are also welcome, but in order to assert their willingness to abide ELS' aims,
recommendations from 2 ELS members are required before acceptance.

Q: If I join ELS, does that mean I have to leave ELSA?

A: No, not at all. Though joining ELS might be considered as the "end of the road" of your ELSA career,
it does not necessarily have to be so. ELS' and ELSA's memberships are perfectly compatible, and, in
fact, it can be quite helpful to be a member of ELS while organizing your ELSA activities.

The moment for joining ELS really just depends on your view of the ways in which you want to
cooperate with ELSA, and your wish of integrating the ELS network. Furthermore, being an ELS
member will allow you to have direct access to services, such as the ELS Directory or mailing-list, that
can be valuable tools for your ELSA work.

Q: How much does it cost to be an ELS member? What are my obligations?

A: An yearly membership fee of 40,00 € (which is a more than affordable amount...) is due at the
beginning of each civil year. At the year they join, members pay a reduced fee of 20,00 €. There is also
an option to pay a one-time "Lifetime membership fee" of 400,00 €. For more details on this, go to our
    Payments page.

ELS strives to support ELSA, as well as to maintain a network of personal and professional connections
within their members. Being that so, an ELS member is expected to supply their contact information,
and allow it to be available to other ELS members and ELSA groups. Within the reasonable limits of
their availability, ELS members should also ideally provide their assistance to the adequate requests
that may be occasionally directed to them, either coming from ELSA or their ELS colleagues.
